About Selection Commission on the Status of Women on CSW:
India has been selected as a member of the Commission on the Status of Women, CSW, which is part of the United Nations Economic and Social Council. The selection is for four years from 2021 to 2025. The selection was made in recognition of India’s efforts for gender equality and women’s empowerment in every field.
Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations TS Trimurti said. Afghanistan and China, along with India, had contested for the membership. India and Afghanistan favored other countries, while China received less than half the votes. CSW promotes gender equality and women’s empowerment around the world through the participation of various countries.
