About Kosi Rail Bridge in Bihar:
The distance of 298 km between Nirmali and Saraigarh railway stations in the state has been reduced to only 22 km. The construction of this 9 km long bridge cost Rs. 576 crores.
In the Year of 1887, Nirmali and Saraigarh stations were connected by a meter-gauge railway line.
Due to the powerful earthquake and flood in 1934, the railway bridge between these two stations was washed away. Construction of the bridge began in 2003 under Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
