A bilateral meeting was held between Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and US Secretary of Defense Mark Asper. On the date of 26th October 2020. The two Ministers reviewed military cooperation, secure corridor diversion systems and cooperation on information, defence trade and industrial issues.
The two leaders discussed the signing of a basic exchange and cooperation agreement and the involvement of the armed forces. Asper welcomes Australia’s participation in the Malabar 2020 exercise.
US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Indian Foreign Minister S.K. Jaishankar also met him.
The two countries signed the Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement, which is important for security. The agreement would allow India to use geo-maps under US jurisdiction to determine their location and position when deploying missiles in war situations.
A total of five agreements were signed between the two countries. This is the third most important agreement between the two countries since the Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement (LEMOA) in 2016 and the Communication Compatibility and Security Agreement (COMCASA) in 2018.
