She was an Assamese writer, poet and editor. His contribution to Assamese literature was honored with Sahitya Akademi Award and Jnanpith Award.

In literary circles, she was known as ‘Mamuni Raisom Goswami’. He was instrumental in brokering a peace deal between the United Liberation Front of Assam and the central government.

By comparative study of Ramayana written by Tulsidas and Ramayana by Madhav Kandali in Assamese language etc. C. In 1973, he obtained his doctorate from Gohatti University. His grandfather had written a book called ‘Narkasuravadh’, which was banned by the British authorities at that time. He passed away on November 29, 2011.
