The Indian Meteorological Department has forecast that the cyclone will hit the coasts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
The storm is expected to move from Karaikal to Mamallapuram off the coast of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry at speeds of 100 to 110 mph.
Due to the effects of the cyclone, torrential rains are expected in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry till November 27 and fishermen have been advised not to go to sea.
NDRF Director General SN Pradhan and 30 units of National Disaster Response Force have been deployed.
