About the Essential Commodities Bill 2020:
1.The Essential Commodities Amendment Bill 2020 was passed in the Rajya Sabha. On the date of 22nd September 2020.
2.The bill would allow the central government to control specific food supplies only in situations such as war and drought.
3.The bill will replace the Essential Commodities Amendment Ordinance announced in June.
4.According to the amended bill, coarse grains, pulses, oilseeds, oil, onions and potatoes have been excluded from the list of essential commodities.
