Famous director Sumitra Bhave passed away on 19/04/2021 in Pune at the age of 78.
Sumitra’s first short film, ‘Bai’ (1985) depicting the lives of slum women, was part of her research project ‘Strivani’. The film also won a national award. His next short film ‘Pani’ was also honored with a national award. He then made short films like Mukti, Chakori, Laha, Shri Faces of Tomorrow. Sumitra was also honored with the Chitra Ratna Award and the Kamadhenu Award for her contribution.
