A bomb blast near a luxury hotel in Quetta, the capital of Pakistan’s Balochistan province, has killed at least four people and injured 11 others.
The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack. Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan Nong Rog is suspected to be the target of the attack. A car bomb had exploded at an Iraqi police recruiting center at Kisak, killing at least two people and wounding dozens more, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said. In recent months, the Pakistani Taliban have stepped up attacks in tribal areas near the Afghan border, demanding independence from the rest of Pakistan and opposing Chinese infrastructure projects in the area.
