Government of India planning to extend the ‘Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana’. This will cover the non-poor population in the country. Possibility of bringing all the existing health insurance schemes. This scheme under Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.

What is the Ayushman Bharat?
In the year 2018 Union Government launched the scheme Ayushman Bhaat. This is a flagship health insurance scheme in order to provide cashless health. This scheme covers up to Rs 5 lakh per family annum for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization. National Health Authority implemented this scheme. They covered around 10 crore families.

What is the New Ayushman Bharat Programm?
In this new scheme the Government cover mission middle or non-poor population of the country. They cover informal sector workers, self-employed professionals, employees in the MSME sector, etc.

Budget for this scheme?
In the Union Budget of 2020-21 Central Government has allocated Rs 69000 crore for the health sector. Also for the PM-JAY scheme Rs, 6000 crores have been allocated.

What is Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMJP)?
The Government’s Department of Pharmaceuticals launched this campaign. The government provides medicines to the affordable price. This all medicines are provided through the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushdhi Kendra. These centers have been set up to provide generic medicines in overall countries.
