93rd Oscar Awards


    The 93rd Oscars, considered to be the nominees in the field of film, were announced on 26 April 2021.  Nomadland has won the Best Picture award.  The film’s director Chloe Zhao won the Best Director award.  Francis McDormand won Best Actress for the same film, while Anthony Hopkins won Best Actor for “The Father.”  But Eun Yuh Jungne ‘Minari’ Daniel Kaluya won the Best Supporting Actress award for the film, and the Best Supporting Actor award for “Judas and the Block Christ.”


Film Nomadland

      The film is directed by Chloe Jao, a 39-year-old Korean-American director.  It was created by Francis McDormand.  The film is based on Jessica Buder’s book Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century.  Between 2008 and 2010, the US recession forced many to lose their jobs and homes.  The stories of the displaced were compiled by journalist Jessica Buder.  Chloe Jao made the film from these true stories.  The film has previously won several awards including Golden Globe, Critic’s Choice Awards, BAFTA Awards, Independent Spirit Award.
