7 new circles of Archaeological Survey of India: Ministry of Culture

The Ministry of Culture has announced 7 new circles of Archaeological Survey, ASI.

Key Points of announcement Culture and Tourism Minister Prahlad Singh Patel :

1.To facilitate and strengthen the process of preservation and registration of archaeological monuments.

2.New circles have been created in Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, West Bengal and Gujarat.

3.Trichy, Raiganj, Rajkot, Jabalpur, Jhansi and Meerut have been announced as new circles.

4.In the Tamil Nadu states have Chola kings, Trichy has been made a new circle along with the circle of Chennai. Hampi city in Karnataka is the point of view of archaeological heritage.                            

5.West Bengal, Raiganj is a new circle along with Kolkata.

6.In the state of  Gujarat, Rajkot is a new circle along with Vadodara.

7.Jabalpur is also a new circle along with Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh. This can include the monuments from Jabalpur, Rewa, Shahdol and Sagar divisions.

8.Jhansi in Bundelkhand and Meerut in western UP both have two new circles along with Lucknow and Agra in Uttar Pradesh.

9.In India there were 29 ASI circles over the country.
